Inner East of Melbourne
The inner east is the informal name given to the group of suburbs that sit immediately east of the Melbourne central business district. There is no set rule as to which suburbs make up the inner east region, however they generally include:

• East Melbourne
• Cremorne
The above suburbs fall under the local government areas of the City of Yarra, Boroondara and Melbourne local councils.
The inner east provides residents with the opportunity to live right next to the heart of Melbourne with access to all major transport networks. There is a good mix of living options from expensive renovated warehouses, old terraces and modern apartments. The area is generally filled with low and medium density housing.

Some of the stations include, Richmond central, East, west and north Richmond, Burnley, Hawthorn, Glenferrie and Auburn stations. Residents of this area are spoilt for choice when needing to travel somewhere. Furthermore they have great access roads connecting the area to the rest of Melbourne.

This area of Melbourne has an abundance of activities to get involved in and a number of sights to see. East Melbourne is the location of several parliamentary buildings such as Parliament House and the old Treasury building. There are also several old churches throughout the suburb and some of the finest Victorian parks in the city. Richmond and Hawthorn have very lively retail areas with busy cafes, bars, pubs and restaurants stretching down several roads. There is a great mix of modern and old architecture housing a number of different people from around the world and making this area of Melbourne one of the premier inner city places to live.
