New Apartments in Melbourne CBD and Docklands

Central Business District (CBD):

This is the name given to Melbourne’s main commercial centre. It sits next to the Yarra River and is Victoria’s and one of Australia’s biggest economic and business areas. The local Government in this area is the City of Melbourne with a small portion in the City of Port Phillip. The CBD is home to many of the cities most important and recognizable landmarks.

Melbourne CBD offers a busy high density lifestyle with incredible access to all areas of the city. The CBD has everything on its doorstep. Space in the CBD is limited with residents living in high rise apartments from the small to the opulent. Open space is of a minimum but a short trip by bus, train, tram, and car or on foot will get you to a number of tree lined parks on the banks of the Yarra River and to other attractions across Melbourne.

Trams run through Flinders, Spencer, La Trobe, Bourke, Elizabeth, St. Kilda, Collins, Swan, Spring and Swanston Streets. Melbourne underground stations and an interstate terminal are also located in the city. There are stations at Flinders St, Spencer St, Parliament and Melbourne Central. Furthermore, ferries and taxis are also available.

Living in the heart of Melbourne provides you with a busy but easy lifestyle. Transport is constantly running whether it is the underground subway, buses or the trams. Numerous shopping options, hundreds of cafes, restaurants and bars are easily accessible. Melbourne CBD is not only a financial centre; it is also a diverse interesting area with different cultures meeting together. Theatre, opera, movies, art galleries, sightseeing are all in walking distance.

Melbourne Docklands

After remaining unused during the 1980’s and some of the 1990’s the Dockland area began a renewal, with the building of the docklands stadium in 2001. The Docklands area is under the local Government area of the City of Melbourne. It is a waterfront area that has changed dramatically over the past years. The areas boundaries are the Yarra River to the south, Spencer St to the east, and citylink to the west. The docklands have the Southern Cross train station located within its boundaries as well as many new and modern buildings housing people, entertainment facilities and multinational companies.

The docklands are essentially an extension of the CBD with many companies realizing the potential of the revamped area. The area has doubled the size of the CBD. The area offers medium and high density living. Docklands has been divided into precincts with commercial, retail, entertainment and residential aspects.

The precincts include:
Northern precincts: Include “NewQuay”, “Waterfront City” and “Melbourne Central City Studios”. This are includes restaurants, bars, retail shops, entertainment and several film studios.

Central Precinct: “Victoria Harbour” and “Central Pier”. This area contains Commercial, residential and retail shops.

Southern Precinct: “Yarras Edge”. This area contains Entertainment centres and residential hubs.

Stadium Precinct: “Batemans Hill”. This area contains a sports stadium, TAFE and residential buildings.

The location and access to public transport, shopping, restaurants and many other attractions make this area one of the premier places of Melbourne.
