North Brisbane

The Northern suburbs of Brisbane are located directly north of the central business district. Brisbane is largely controlled by one local government called Brisbane City Council. The city is split up into 26 wards with 8 of them located in the northern suburbs of Brisbane.

Infrastructure:

Rail and bus are the two forms of public transport available in the northern suburbs. The Shorncliffe, North coast, Ferny Grove and Doomben lines all service the northern suburbs with numerous train stations throughout the area. Buses compliment the extensive train network by connecting the population to the train stations as well as transporting residents directly to the central business district.

Major roads that service the northern suburbs are the Gateway Motorway and Gympie Road. These two roads connect the northern suburbs with the CBD and the rest of Brisbane.

Things to do:

The northern suburbs of Brisbane provide residents and visitors with a wide array of activities and sites to see and do. The area has many contrasts from old heritage buildings to new stylish apartments. The north is home to both the well heeled and working class. Take a walk around the area to see old Queenslander architecture and beautiful tree lined streets. There are plenty of amazing restaurants and cafes on the north with fast food options also available. Many of the suburbs in the area have a village feel as many of them have their own central shopping strips and public spaces surrounded by unique natural beauty. The area is well connected to the rest of the city with an expansive public transport network making it easy to travel to all of Brisbane’s amazing sites and entertainment areas.
