Perth is the capital Of Western Australia and the state’s most populous city with over 1,555,000 people calling it home. The city is located on the south western coast of Australia and is geographically closer to Singapore and Indonesia than it is to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Education:

There are a number of public and private schools in the region as well as a selection of universities. Perth currently has 4 public universities which include Curtin University of Technology, Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University and the University of Western Australia. The University of Notre Dame Australia is Perth’s only private university. These universities are very well respected for their research and quality of teaching around the country. Perth has a variety of TAFE and vocational institutes as well.

The city has public, non-denominational, independent and special needs schools, including pre-schools, primary schools and secondary schools. The education system is watched over by the Department of Education and Training with the curriculum of all schools in the state of Western Australia set by the curriculum council. Western Australia has a well known education system in place that has a good reputation.

Infrastructure:

The main way for people to travel around Perth is by car. There are a number of major transport roads which make up the network. Perth roads are on a grid system making it very easy to find your way around the city. The city has two major freeways which are the Kiwana Freeway travelling south and the Mitchell Freeway that services the northern suburbs. Other major highways that connect areas of Perth together and connect Perth to other towns are the Reid Highway, Tonkin Highway, Canning Highway and Leach Highway.

Perth also has an extensive public transport system. Modes of transport include taxis, trains, buses and ferries.

Transperth oversees the running of the public transport in the city. There are 70 train stations throughout Perth servicing the suburbs and the CBD. Services operate from early morning until late at night.

The bus network is very comprehensive covering the whole of Perth. Buses focus on taking the population living in the suburbs to the rail lines as well as having direct routes in to the central business district. Additional services for special events and some cross city routes are also an important part of the network.

Ferry service in the city is limited with service only occurring on a section of the Swan River from Perth CBD to the South Perth Foreshore.

Perth Airport is serviced by numerous international airports with many of them providing daily services to the city. International or domestic travel is possible from Perth’s airport.

Perth is an amazing place to live, visit or invest as the city continues to grow and prosper. Perth offers endless options of activities from surfing at some of the most beautiful beaches in the world to shopping at the many of the boutiques. There is an abundant amount of restaurants and cafes for the budget conscious through to the expensive taste of some. Night time venues such as bars, clubs and pubs are open till late at night with areas such as the “West End” gaining popularity whilst the CBD and Northbridge have always been a popular option.

Perth is a vibrant city and is the centre of Western Australian art and culture. There are many Galleries and theatres that are open daily with both international and local talent on show.

A good way to see the centre of Perth is to walk. Stroll along the Swan River and stop off at some of the historical buildings like Perth Town Hall. Have a picnic at the beautiful Kings Park, go watch the Kangaroos at Heirisson Island or just relax on one of the many beaches available to the public. Whatever your tastes, whether you are young or old, Perth can cater to your needs.
